16-yr-old pregnant girl was assaulted when she approached police to complain against husband

Bihar, May 28, 2015: A 16-year-old pregnant girl has alleged that some policemen took money and snatched her mobile phone when she went to the police station at file a complaint against her husband and in-laws.

According to a report in Times of India, the victim approached SSP seeking his intervention in the case.

The girl, daughter of a railway engineer, claimed that she fell in love with a sanitary worker named Dinesh and they had a relation. But, he refused to marry her after she got pregnant.

She approached the women police station, Patna, in December to report the case. But the police official demanded money to lodge a complaint.


She said that she paid Rs 3,000 following which he was brought to the police station and she was married off to Dinesh on January 4 after the cops insisted, although she was minor.

But, her troubles didn’t end there, Dinesh left her at his parents’ house and went away. The victim said that his parents used to harass her and insisted her to abort the baby.

Later, she called up her parents who took her away. She registered a case against Dinesh who was sent to jail but was released on April 5. Worsening the matter, he used to come by her home at night and used to shout and abuse her.

Her parents asked her to leave the house after which she went to her friend’s place.

Later, she met the SSP and informed him that she had recorded evidences against her husband and in-laws on her mobile phone but a lady police official snatched the phone from her and never returned.

Meanwhile, SSP Jitender Rana assured that he will look into the matter.
