Mangalore Today News Network

Barabanki, Nov 22, 2014:  In a fresh controversy for the Samajwadi Party, already facing flak for the ostentatious birthday celebrations for its chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, supporters of one of its legislator have been caught on camera, brutally beating up toll plaza employees.

The incident happened in Barabanki district around 11 am on Friday when personnel manning the Ahmadpur toll booth allegedly stopped the Scorpio car of Gosainganj MLA Abhay Singh for entering the wrong lane. This reportedly angered Mr Singh’s supporters - traveling with him in his convoy - who got into a heated argument with the toll booth employees.

They were soon joined by more men who arrived in three Fortuner cars, and were caught on  CCTV cameras mercilessly thrashing a toll plaza attendant and a guard with sticks.

One of the victims alleged that the MLA, Abhay Singh, sat in his car and watched while they were being attacked.

The police are yet to file a case in connection with the incident.

On Friday, senior UP minister and Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan ignited a controversy with his sarcastic response to the funding for the birthday bash for party boss Mulayam Singh Yadav. "Taliban ne diya, Dawood ne diya. Saara Talibaan ka fund hai" (The Taliban gave, Dawood gave.

It’s all funded by the Taliban.)," said Mr Khan in response to the criticism over the extravagant celebrations he organised in his home town of Rampur for Mr Yadav.
