Collision in Sharjah with workers bus injures 38 Indian workers

Sharjah, July 23, 2014:  News reports from UAE state, thirty eight Indian workers received serious to minor injuries during a horrific collision between a cement truck and the bus carrying the workers in Sharjah July 22.

Sharjah.The bus was fully loaded with 38 workers who belong to a contracting company. Two of the workers are in critical condition and others are receiving treatment for moderate and minor injuries.

Major Abdulrahaman, Director of Awareness Section at Sharjah Traffic Police stated  the accident happened when the cement truck driven by an Indian was coming from Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed street towards Al Ittihad road and the bus was coming from Industrial area of Ajman towards Al Ittihad road through the roundabout located at the gate of second freezone.

Both vehicles collided due to lack of attention of the cement truck driver due to which the truck hit the bus from the right side causing it to turn turtle several times. This caused injuries to the workers who were all rushed to Al Qasimi, Kuwaiti, Khalifa and Umm Al Quwain hospitals in Ajman.

Police urged the motorists to drive with caution and fasten seatbelts and abide by speed limit of the road to avoid such accidents. Workers have to be provided with safe and adequate transportation.
