Belagavi Dec 28 2017 (DHNS): The Marathi Yuva Manch, an organisation aligned with the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES), has urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis not to help Karnataka get the Mahadayi issue resolved till it resolves the Karnataka-Maharashtra boundary dispute.

The Manch said Karnataka was implementing the Mahadayi project in the disputed area in Khanapur taluk, Belagavi district, which as per the recommendations of the Mahajan Commission should go to Maharashtra as it has 100% Marathi-speaking population.

In a letter to Fadnavis on Thursday, a copy of which was released to the press here, the Manch said Karnataka had been making all efforts for implementing the Mahadayi project to meet the drinking water requirements in North Karnataka region.

It said, Mahadayi was not a bilateral issue between Karnataka and Goa, and Maharashtra was also a party to it.
