He mouthed expletives, showed middle finger in classroom

Mangalore Today News Network

Bangalore, Nov 01, 2014, DHNS:  He may perhaps be the most hated teacher now after what he allegedly did to a six-year-old girl, but his students in Class VIII, IX and X recall him as an “overly” frank teacher who would often use expletives in the classroom and even show the middle finger.

raped_While Jaishankar was initially teaching Hindi to only Class X students, he was later asked to take classes for all the sections of VIII and IX standards.

His students, most of them boys, on Thursday gathered around the school premises after the rape incident. Speaking with Deccan Herald, Rahul (name changed), a Class IX student who has been studying in the school for past three years and was also taking private tuitions from Jaishankar, said, “He was always very friendly with us and I am shocked to know that he could do such a thing. He would unhesitatingly use foul language (f*** you) in the classroom and often put his arm around female classmates.”

Subodh (name changed), another student of Class IX, said, “Many times he would give his mobile number to our female classmates. He also used to call the girls to his house for teaching and often visited their houses on the pretext of imparting lessons.”

Rupesh, another student of Class VIII who had come along with his mother, said, “His behaviour in the class was not normal at times. Sometimes he would ask someone to drum on the table and he would start dancing in the class.”

Sohan (name changed), another Class IX student, said, “Sometimes he would pass loose comments in the class. Like, if a student is looking outside, he would say ‘your girlfriend will not run away’ or ‘is your girlfriend waiting outside?’.”

Meanwhile, Jaishankar’s house, which is barely a kilometre away from the school, was found locked on Thursday. When Deccan Herald reached his house, his neighbours said the family, including his wife, their son, a Class I student of the same school, and his mother, had apparently left in the morning.”

One of his neighbours said Jaishankar behaved normally and many students came to his house for tuitions.
