Guntur, Oct 29, 2014: The Criminal Investigation Department in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday arrested a member of the YSR Congress party for posting a message on his Facebook page expressing his happiness over harms done by Cyclone Hudhud.

hudhud.jp"I

love you #Hudhud. Those who did harm, have been bent by nature... Feeling God is there," C Rahul Reddy from Guntur posted on the social networking site.

In a report to the Centre last week, the Andhra Pradesh government said the very severe cyclonic storm killed at least 46 people and injured 43 others. It also affected 20.93 lakh families and killed nearly 3000 animals.

Hudhud also damaged standing crops in over 2.37 lakh hectare of farmland having 22.14 lakh tons of foodgrains and 6.89 tons of horticultural crops. Nearly 5000 villages in four districts were affected by the cyclone that damaged over 40,000 houses.

The Andhra Pradesh government report also noted that the Hudhud damaged 455 buildings, including 317 primary and secondary schools, before crossing over the state.

Experts said Hudhud could have been more disastrous if the Indian Space Research Organisation had not issued warnings in advance.
