Justice VR Krishna Iyer passes away

Kochi, 04 Dec 14:  The legendary jurist VR Krishna Iyer, whose 99th birthday was celebrated widely in Kerala a few days back, died in hospital at 3.30 pm today.

The cause of the death of former Supreme Court justice, who had been in hospital for nearly a fortnight, was renal and cardiac failure and neumonia, hospital sources said.

Krishan Iyer, who was a minister in the first Communist government led by E.M.S.Namppothirppad, was later appointed as judge of the Kerala High Court. he was later elevated to the Supreme Court where he delivered some of the most remarkable judgments in the history of the apex court.
