Kolkata: Fire Breaks Out at Iconic Chatterjee International High-Rise, Four People Rescued

Kolkata, sep 02, 2014:  Fire today broke out at the 16th floor of Chatterjee International building in Kolkata, one of the tallest buildings in the city.

Kokata FireFour persons trapped inside the building were rescued by the fire department. Officials said at the moment they did not think anyone else was trapped in the building. 

Very few people were in the building as the fire broke out before the office hours, is less.

The fire men have been struggling to put out the fire as the smoke remains trapped on the floor in absence of exhausts in the building.

The building is situated on the busy Chowringhee road, which is one of the arterial roads in Kolkata.

The area has been cordoned off to conduct the firefighting operations in the busy area.

Chaterjee International is the fifth tallest building in Kolkata with more than 24 floors.

There are no reports of any casualties so far. The cause of fire or extent of damage was yet to be ascertained, police said.
