New Delhi/Ralegan Siddhi, Dec 17: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi has reached out to anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare by writing a letter to the septuagenarian praising his effort for a strong Lokpal Bill.
Anna Hazare, who is on Day 7 of his indefinite fast, has also written a letter to Rahul Gandhi, welcoming Rahul Gandhi’s commitment towards a strong Lokpal Bill.
Following is the text of Anna Hazare’s letter to Rahul Gandhi:
"I welcome your commitment towards getting the Lokpal and Lokayukta Bill passed in Parliament. I would request you to include all the points recommended by the Select Committee in this bill. Political parties represented on the Select Committee had unanimously approved these points.
"If the Parliament feels there are any more provisions to be added to this bill to make it more effective, then it would be in the interest of the people.
"The people of the country are awaiting an effective Lokpal.
"Yours, K. B. Anna Hazare"
This is what Rahul Gandhi wrote to Anna Hazare in his letter:
"Dear Shri Anna Hazare ji,
Thanks for your letter dated December 15, 2013. I have got much encouragement after receiving your letter.
"All of us are committed towards providing a strong and effective Lokpal system to the people of the country to the extent possible. We respect your role in this matter and are grateful for your support.
