According to a report published in The Times of India on Tuesday, the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) is soon expected to make a recommendation to the Union HRD Ministry in this regard.

The report also said that the competitive exam may be held a bit earlier next year as the authorities require additional time for the admission process.

The CSAB is soon expected to make a recommendation in this regard to the HRD Ministry keeping in mind the delay in submission of Class XII scores by the boards to CBSE and glitches in the scores of some students during this year’s admission process.

As per the reports, the CSAB is expected to recommend admissions only on the basis of JEE (Main) scores, which implies 40% weightage given to Class XII scores for admissions to NITs and other government-funded technical institutes (other than IITs) may be scrapped.

CSAB, part of the joint seat allocation authority, will make the recommendation in this year’s admission report.

MP Singh, coordinator of the CSAB from NIT-Patna, who was also part of JoSAA 2015, was quoted as saying, “Many of the 47 higher secondary boards in the country are not sending their scores on time to the CBSE. Keeping in mind students’ interests, we will be asking the apex body to conduct
admissions only on the basis of the JEE (Main) scores.“

The first-ever joint seat allocation process (JoSAA) was delayed by a week this year as the CBSE did not get Class XII scores from all boards on time, leading to a delay in the academic session at top institutes.
