Mangalore, April 30, 2013: A complaint has been lodged at the Suratkal police station by the Managing Director of Chitra Publications (P) Ltd which publishes Karavali Ale eveninger, alleging that the supporters of former minister and Mangalore North BJP candidate Krishna Palemar had torched the copies of the eveninger at Krishnapur 9th block on April 28, Sunday and at Suratkal bus stand on April 29, Monday.
According to the complainant Rohini S, Managing Director of Chitra Publications, the local corporator Tilakraj had led the group which torched bundles of Karavali Ale at Krishnapur on Sunday, while on Monday, copies of Karavali Ale were snatched from the vehicle loaded with the newspaper bundles as soon as it arrived at Suratkal bus stand. The copies were later torched, the complaint said.
Pointing out that it was the usual trait of the Sangh Parivar members to snatch newspaper copies and torch them, the complaint said even the request made to the Suratkal inspector to ensure protection, had been of no avail.
The complaint also stated that the miscreants had challenged the newspaper for publishing anti-Palemar reports. It has further urged for legal action against those indulging in destructive activities and urged for police intervention to see to it that the former minister, Sangh Parivar and other elements did not disturb the functioning of the newspaper.
