18th Independence Cup Football Tourney inaugurated

Mangalore, July 30, 2014:  City Mayor Mahabala Maarla inaugurated the 18th Independence Cup Football tournament  at the Nehru Maidan here on July 30, Wednesday. The tournament is hosted by the DK District Football Association. The 17-day tournament will conclude on Independence Day and a total of 214 teams will vie  for the  coveted cup.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In his address, Mahabala Maarla emphasized the need to encourage sports talents. He was all praise for the activities of the Football Association in the district. The Mayor further stated that the City Corporation would strive to encourage sports. The DK Football Association honoured the Mayor on the occasion.

Zilla Panchayat President Asha Timmappa Gowda  was present as a chief guest. DK Football Association President D.M. Aslam, Corporators Naveenchandra, Diwaker and several others were present on the occasion.
