Abetment of suicide: Bhagyashree’s cousin Guruprasad sent to jail

Belthangady, 19 April 2015: Police busted the mystery behind the death case of Bhagyashree (18) reported from Marodi, Venur on April 6, the Venur police have arrested the deceased’s cousin, with whom she was in love, for abetting suicide.


 Bhagyashree death caseGuruprasad (20), a resident of Sulkeri and final year student of a college in Ujire was arrested by police and produced before court on Saturday, April 18, 2015.


Police sources say that Bhayashree and Guruprasad were in a relationship over the last one and half years. Though their parents were against the relationship, they had later agreed to get the two married off after few years. However, off late, Guruprasad had ignored Bhagyashree as he had developed love interest on some other girl. Distressed by this Bhagyashree had confronted him and even threatened him of ending life. While he budged for a while, soon he started ignoring her again and had even blocked her calls.


On the fateful day, Bhagyashree is said to have sent a final message to Guruprasad stating that it was her last message and she would be ending her life. Guruprasad who convinced her not to take such extreme step later ignored her message.


It can be recalled that when a death note found the police grew suspicious over the authenticity of the death note, they detained a suspect. It is now said that this young man must have written the death note as he was vehemently trying to convince everyone that it was a note written by Bhagyashree.


Though the police have not found any concrete evidence to prove that it was not a suicide case, they opine that Bhagyashree was in love and certain aspects attached to this could have claimed her life.


Bhagyashree’s mobile phone has revealed several crucial clues to the case. It is said that there have been exchange of message between the detained youth and Bhagyashree and even on the fateful day she is said to have sent message and made calls to him.
