Puttur, Dec 1, 2015 : Puttur police have arrested a man from Belandur who had managed to give the Rayavaram police in Andhra Pradesh a slip a few years ago in a case of smuggling ganja in an Innova car.
The arrested man is identified as Mohammad Haneef (31). He had managed to escape when the Rayapura police were searching his car involved in an accident and found ganja packets inside.
The car owned by Santosh of Bantwal though was leased out to Mohammad Haneef, the former had lodged a complaint with Puttur Town Police alleging that the later was misusing his car.
As a court case in his connection was underway, the Puttur police arrested the accused when he had arrived to appear before the court.
The accused was produced before the Puttur court on Monday and the court has transferred the case to the Yelamachali court in Andhra Pradesh. The accused has been entrusted to the custody of the Rayavaram police in Vishakhapatnam district.
