All passengers injured as bus falls into ditch near Cheruvathur

Kasargod, Aug 30, 2014: A bus plying from Kayyur to Kanhangad that was driven to the extreme edge of the road, overturned and rolled off the road at least 25 feet, near Cheruvathur on Friday August 29, injuring all passengers.

 

According to the reports, a bus plying from Kayyur to Kanhangad overturned and fell in to a ditch off the road near Cheruvathur on August 29, several passengers suffered grave injuries and all of them have been admitted to a private hospital in Nileshwar, a three-year-old along with three other injured were taken to Kanhangad government hospital, others  were also admitted to hospital in Cheruvathur it is informed.

The  driver and cleaner sustained serious injuries along with some passengers, while at least  30 other passengers in the bus were hurt.

The driver of the bus veered to the edge of the road in a bid to give way for another bus, but lost control of the vehicle. The bus rolled down about 25 ft off the steep edge of the road and turned turtle.  A case has been registered in Chandera police station, local people rushed to the accident site and helped with rescue efforts.
