Mangaluru, July 29,2016: In tune with the Make in India Programme launched by the Prime Minister aimed at transforming India into a global design and manufacturing hub and with an intention of inspiring students to think out of the box, Vikas Pre University College will be organising 500 Ka Josh [Panchso Ka Josh] competition as well as Career Guidance programme on August 27, Saturday.
This information was provided to the media here on July 29, Friday by Krishna J Palemar, Chairman of Vikas Education Trust and former minister.
The programme will be focusing on three categories viz. 1. Best Business Model – To incline the students towards commerce 2. Best Innovation - To ignite the spark for science and reasoning and 3. Aesthetically Brilliant Model - To imagine the different dimensions of Arts
A seed fund of Rs.500/- will be given to each team and each school can have maximum of five teams. All these teams are expected to develop innovative, aesthetically brilliant and creative models by only using the seed fund, which will benefit the society and nurture the students’ potential. The outcome of this program will be giving hands on experience to the students to help them select the right course after their Class X, which is a million dollar question to many. Also, the winners of this competition will get a scholarship amount of Rs 10,000/- per category.
Vikas College has already approached 40 schools, mostly government schools, Kannada Medium Schools and other private schools to encourage students to participate, informed Palemar. Achievers in the field of Arts, Science and Commerce will be resource persons at the Career Guidance Programme and help students get a clear idea about the various courses. Also, a career path chart will be given to all the participants, along with a participation certificate.
The balance seed fund along with contribution from Vikas will be used to provide essentials for the underprivileged orphans and aged in Mangaluru city and outskirts, in the presence of the participants, so that they are acquainted with charity and the joy of giving at an early age, said Palemar.
