Mangalore, July 24, 2014: It was a proud moment for the Yaksha Manjusha troupe led by eminent Yakshagana artiste Vidya Kolyur when as many a 43 kids from the United States, mostly non-Kannadigas who were trained by it, presented a captivating Yakshagana sequence “Shree Krishna Leele” before the audience.
Yaksha Manjusha team led by Vidya Kolyur, Mohan Bellippady, Prashanth Shetty Nelyadi, Rakesh Rai Adka, Harinarayana Edneer and Arun who trained the kids as part of the Maryland Summer camp had a sense of fulfilment when the Yakshagana presentation by the kids was a mega success. Of the 43 kids only three were Kannadigas.
Just a week ago, children of Chinmaya Mission had presented a Yakshagana “Kamsa Vadhe” with the participation of Patla Satish Shetty as Bhagavatha, Padmanabha Upadhya as Maddale artiste and Devananda Bhat, Chende artiste.
If we consider the participation and involvement of the children in a foreign land as a yard stick, then there is a reason to celebrate.
The untiring efforts by Vidya Kolyur, in training Non-Kannadiga children, and the support by well known artistes like Patla Satish Shetty and Padmanabha Upadhya and other team members is worth mentioning.Yaksha Manjusha is touring USA for the third consecutive year with a mission towards laying a strong foundation for Yakshagana in USA.
