Bantwal, Jun  25, 2018 : A bridge across river Phalguni linking Mangaluru-Gurpur collapsed at Mularpatna in Bantwal due to heavy rains on June 25, Monday.

Excessive sand mininig in the region is the reason for the collapse of the bridge allege locals. No one was reportedly hurt in the incident.

This bridge connects Sornadu in Bantwal to several places like Kupppedavu, Kaikamba, Iruvail, Edapadavu, Ganjimatt, Suratkal and others.

The police later placed a barricade with reflectors to avoid danger ahead and closed the road leading to the bridge.
