Mangalore, Apr 18, 2012 : Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop of Mangalore Diocese, conferred Holy Orders on five deacons on April 17 Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at an ordination ceremony held at Rosario Church. A large number of devotees, including friends, family members, and well wishers of the newly ordained priests, were present along with 100 priests, nuns, and religious brothers and sisters.
The bishop celebrated the ordination mass with all the five newly ordained priests concelebrating. The animator of the liturgy was Fr. Boniface Pinto, the director of Mangala Jyothi Diocesan Biblical and Catechetical Centre.
The ordination mass was followed by a felicitation program, during which Fr. Henry Sequeira, the chancellor of the Mangalore Diocese, introduced each of the new priests and wished them well.
Presiding over the event, the bishop greeted the new priests and thanked their parents for presenting their sons to the church.
Msgr. Denis Moras Prabhu, the vicar general of the Mangalore Diocese, and Fr. Ronald Serrao of St. Joseph’s Seminary were among the dignitaries on the dais.
Fr. Patrick Sequeira, one of the newly ordained priests, expressed gratitude on behalf of all the new priests.
Fr. Patrick Sequeira of Modankap, Fr. Edwin Monis of Belthangady, Fr. Praveen D’Souza of Kumble, Fr. Melwin D’Souza of Maniampare, and Fr. Paul Crasta of Arva are the newly ordained priests.
Fr. Victor Vijay Lobo, the rector of Minor Seminary of Mangalore Diocese, was the MC.
