Belthangady, Sep 30, 2013 : Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that Karnataka has still a long way to go as far as development is concerned.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Hospital constructed at Ujire at a cost of Rs 14 crores on September 29, Sunday. The formal function was held at the Indraprastha Auditorium.
The CM said one of the reasons for the migration of rural people towards urban areas is the concentration of all modern amenities in urban areas. He also stressed the need for establishment of modern hospitals even in rural areas.
On the Anna Bhagya scheme launched by the state government, the Chief Minister said the government was spending Rs 4200 crores on the project as Karnataka has a large number of poor people when compared to the neighbouring Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister lauded the role of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala in the education, health and social fields.
Referring to local MLA Vasanth Bangera, the CM said every time Bangera approached him he had a long list of appeals to make, revealing his concern for the development of his constituency. The Government is committed to develop Belthangady constituency, he added.
Local MLA Vasanth Bangera in his address, appealed to the Chief Minister for a scientific survey on the proposed Niddodi and Ettinahole projects.
State Ministers UT Khader, Ramanatha Rai, Abhayachandra Jain, Vinaykumar Sorake, MP Nalin K umar Kateel, Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala, TP Chief Keshava M, Ujire Gram Panchayat President Balakrishna Gowda and others were present.
