Mangaluru, June 6, 2020: In pursuance of the Government permitting the resumption of rituals and services from June 8, 2020 in places of worship of all religions in the region, in accordance with strict guidelines; several consultations have been in progress to adopt ways and means to adequately follow the regulations and rules in a propermanner. People have shown deep interest that suitable devotions must be resumed as soon as possible. In this regard, The Catholic Bishop of Mangalore this afternoon, released a brief note for the information of the public.
In a circular, Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha said, "All the Parish Priests are requested to make all the required arrangements to open churches and to have Religious services as per the Government guidelines (e.g.: Thermal Screeners, Sanitizer, Volunteers, seating arrangements etc.) After ensuring that all the required things are in order, Masses can be celebrated in the churches from 13th June. More detailed guidelines will be sent at the earliest."
In this context the due arrangemets to meet all the Govt. guide lines will be strictly implemented before the opening of the churches for worship on Saturday, Jene 13. The dedtails will follow here as and when made available.
The masses and visits to churches for offering prayers had remained suspended in the district since March 22, to check the spread of COVID-19. There are 124 parishes spread across Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod district coming under the jurisdiction of Mangalore Diocese.
