Mangalore, Oct 24, 2014: District BJP President Pratap Simha Nayak has come down heavily on the state government for failing to end the discrepancies in the process issuing ration cards.
Speaking to reporters here on October 24, Friday, Nayak said the absence of an effective mechanism has left the applicants in confusion. He was also critical of the slow pace of functioning of the ration card issuing centres in the district and alleged that they are unable to issue more than ten ration cards a day.
He further alleged that the state government policies were against the interests of the poor and farmers.
On the recent instance of the suspension of Kavoor SI after the Hindu organisations protested against the alleged assault on a Bhajrangdal activist by the SI, Nayak opined that the Congress may even pressurise the government for the transfer of the Police Commissioner over the suspension of the SI.
BJP leaders including MLC Ganesh Karnik, Monappa Bhandari and Krishna Palemar were present at the press meet.
