Dr. Veerendra Heggade demands CBI investigation of Sowjanya case

Dharmasthala, Nov 16, 2012 : The people of Dharmasthala feel that several organizations and individuals have used the Sowjanya rape and murder case for their own selfish purposes. Recently, Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade issued a statement demanding CBI investigation of this case.

Further, he revealed that the victim’s parents had met him after she was found murdered and that he had directed them to go to the police. He had also called the home minister and the district superintendent of police to investigate the death and nab the culprits. He had also spoken to District-in-charge Minister C. T. Ravi.

Home Minister R. Ashok visited Dharmasthala on Oct 22 and Dr. Heggade had urged him to initiate a full-fledged inquiry, but now an atmosphere of tension, fear, and uncertainty has been launched by unknown parties, who have started a text message campaign. He demanded that strict action must be taken against those spreading false news and accusing political and influential features of being responsible for the crime. He urged the CBI to handle this case before the culprits destroy all the evidence and demanded that those spreading disturbing text messages must be punished.

Meanwhile, K. K. Sabu Jadkal, president of the Kodachari Samrakhana Trust, demanded a CBI probe into the death of Sowjanya as he feels that certain parties are making attempts to close the case. He also demanded an apology from Keshava Belalu, president of the Belthangady GP, who allegedly used objectionable language against Shri Kemaru Swamiji, who has been demanding a high-level investigation of the Sowjanya case.
