Fed up with alleged teasing in college, PU girl ends life

Kundapur, July 30, 2014:  In a tragic case, a college girl has ended her life by hanging herself after being reportedly agonised over teasing and harassment by  college mates. The girl Supreetha Poojari(17) was found hanging in her house at Upralli in Byndoor on July 29, Tuesday evening.

 

Supreetha was a second PUC student of RN Shetty College of Kundapur. Daughter of Srinivas Poojary, she had scored 90 per cent in SSLC and was  studying in PUC (Science). On Tuesday her uncle had been to Manipal Hospital and mother to the fields. She had sent her grandmother forcibly to a neighbouring house before ending her life by hanging herself to the  fan after leaving a death note.

The death note reportedly states that she was being  teased by her college mates which has hurt her. She also said she was not in love with anyone  and was ending her life out of frustration.

Sources said she had not attended college on Monday and the principal had telephoned her house. The call was received by her uncle.  Moreover the principal telephoning her house too has given room for doubts as usually college heads do not call up the residence of a student just because a student is on  leave for a day. There is a suspicion that some incident might have taken place in the college on Saturday.

Byndoor police are investigating.
