Mangalore, Jan 21,2013: A golden Garuda Vahana, the vehicle of Shree Vyasa Raghupathi, the presiding deity of Shree Kashi Mutt Samsthan, was dedicated to the Lord by Sri Sudhindra Theertha Swamiji, the Senior Pontiff of the Kashi Mutt Samsthan at the Sri Venkatramana Temple at Carstreet in Mangalore on January 20, Sunday, in the presence of a large number of devotees.
The Golden Garuda Vahana, was earlier brought to the temple from Navabharath Circle, in a grand procession.
Among the nine vahana’s of Shree Vyasa Raghupathi, only Garuda Vahana is made of gold and the other vahana’s - Hanuman, Surya, Chariot, Palanquin, Horse and Elephant are made of Silver.
The golden Garuda Vahana is made by the Swarna Jewelers with 5 kgs gold. The fund was raised by the temple with contributions from many devotees’. The cost of the golden Garuda Vahana is approximately Rs one crore.
The vahana is made of wood embellished with gold covering. The devotees will hand over this golden Garuda Vahana to Kashi Mutt in the hand of Sri Sudhindra Thirtha Swamiji at 8 pm, on January 23.
