Karkala : CM slams Deve Gowda, accuses him of encouraging superstition

Karkala, Jan 28, 2015: Chief Minister  Siddaramaiah   on January 28, Wednesday slammed JD(S) Supremo HD Deve Gowda for his remarks against him recently. However, the CM refused to comment on the Arkavathy scam.

Speaking to media men after receiving the guard of honour at Swaraj Maidan in the town where he arrived to take part in the Bhagavan Bahubali Mahamastakabhisheka  and annual feast of St Lawrence at Attur, Siddaramaiah said  he need not  take lessons on atheism from the JD(S) leader who is also the former prime minister.

Accusing Deve Gowda of promoting superstitious beliefs, Siddaramaiah said  he was a believer in God but   did not encourage superstitions like Gowda.

On the resignation tendered by  Excise Minister Satish Jarakiholi,  Siddaramaiah said he has not accepted the resignation and added he would speak to Jarakiholi  in this regard.

The CM also stressed the need for the people to follow the ideals of peace, sacrifice and non-violence advocated by Bhagavan Bahubali.

Vinay Kumar Sorake, Urban Development Minister, Mahadev Prasad, PWD Minister, Abhayachandra Jain, Minister for Sports and Fisheries, Sunil Kumar, Karkala MLA, Pramod Madhwaraj, Udupi MLA, Gopal Bhandari, former MLA, R Vishal, Deputy Commissioner, Annamalai, SP, Amrit Paul, IGP of Western Range, Rehmath Sheikh, Karkala TMC President and several others were present on the occasion.
