Kundapur: Man gets death penalty for murdering a girl in 2010

Kundapur Apr 28, 2016: Kundapur additional district and Session court announced death penalty to a man for murdering a girl six years ago.

Sathish Poojary (34), resident of Hemmady had been found guilty of murdering Latha Poojary in 2010.Latha hails from poor family, Sathish was running a fancy store and both became friends which turned in to affair. Latha was aware Sathish taking advantage of the relationship later Latha pressurized him to marry.

But Sathish diverted the topic and angered by her behavior and decided to eliminate her. One day Latha met Sathish and took her to Maravanthe beach where Sathish strangled her to death and threw her body in Halkady and flee away from the spot.

A team led by the DySP Vishwanath Pandith, comprising Madan Gaonkar, Gangolli Inspector Gopal Naik and Sathish Kumar carried out the investigation. During interrogation Sathish admitted his guilt. Sathish was jailed and was out soon on conditional bail, he attended the hearing on Thursday.

Judge Rajshekar V Patil convicted Sathis and sentenced him to death by hearing the verdict Sathish broke down.
