Mangalore, Apr 2, 2013: Police Flag Day was observed at the police grounds here on April 2, Tuesday under the joint aegis of the Mangalore Police Commissionerate, Dakshina Kannada district police and KSRP. Nearly 61 police personnel who retired from service during the year 2012-13 were felicitated on the occasion.
Former DySP Vishwanath Pundith, who was the chief guest, released the Police Day flags which were sold to members. Funds collected through the sale will be utilized for welfare of police personnel.
Speaking on the occasion, Pundith urged police personnel to maintain their health as a healthy mind and a healthy body helps them in executing their duties efficiently. Further, he underscored the need for the police personnel to be fully aware of the existing laws.
Pratap Reddy, IGP Western Range, on this occasion chose to congratulate the eight police officials from the Western Range who bagged the coveted Chief Minister’s Medal. He further said public co-operation goes a long way in helping the Police Department function efficiently.
Manish Kharbikar, Mangalore Police Commissioner welcomed the gathering. Ramdas Gowda, Commandant KSRP delivered the vote of thanks.
