Mangaluru, Feb 10, 2016: The CCB Police of Mangaluru led by Inspector Venkatesh Prasanna has succeeded in  unearthing a fake marks sheet scam with the arrest of two persons.

Informing this to media persons here on February 9, Tuesday, City Police Commissioner Chandra Sekhar  revealed that the police have seized a computer hard disk, three lap tops, mobile phones, printer, hologram, 18 fake seals as well as stickers from the two accused namely Askan Sheikh (22) of Chembugudde and Gautam  R (32) of Kulur. He also revealed that the marks sheets were printed at  Mangalore Institute of Management and Engineering  at Pumpwell-Kankanady in the city which was set  up by Askan himself in June 2015.

The Commissioner informed that the arrests were made following a raid on the institute  as well as the houses of the two accused.  The  Commissioner clarified on this occasion that though the Mangalore Institute of Management and Engineering was a legal institution, the two accused used to carry out their unlawful activity from the institution.

 The Commissioner said in the fake certificates, the duo used to mention that the student studied in the institution in 2010 though it was set up just last year .  It is learnt, Askan is an engineering student while the other accused Gautam  runs the GK International Consultancy Services.

So far the duo has reportedly issued fake certificates to nearly 150 people. It is learnt they sold  SSLC and PUC marks sheets for Rs 10,000 each and fake degree and diploma certificates for Rs 35,000  while fake  MBA and Engineering certificates costed Rs 45000.

The two  issued fake marks sheets to those who approached them, within a week’s time, the Commissioner said. The SSLC certificates were issued in the name of a non-existent school named Mangalore Public School.

It is learnt  Askan even had contacts in Bengaluru, Delhi and other places and that investigations would be done in this direction.

The Commissioner informed that the duo used to print and sell fake marks sheets and certificates of  Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra, Alpha Institute of Management and Technological Science, VTU, Belgaum, Shridhar University, Pilani, Rajasthan, Techo Globe University, Shillong, Karnataka State Open University, Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management, Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sankrit and Ancient Studies University, Assam, All India Higher Education Board, Mangalore Institute of Management and Engineering Alpha Institute of Management and Technogical Science, Bengaluru.
