Mangaluru: FIR agaist FB account holder for defaming Christian beliefs

Mangaluru, March 2, 2015: As per reliable reports, an FIR has been lodged against a Face Book account holder  going by the name of ’Shriram Yadapadithaya’ from Bangalore at Pandeswar Police Station today March 2. A Catholic youth group ICYM ( Indian Catholic Youth Movement) of Mangalore along with elders and priests, raised serious objections that the oblique comments were deeply hurtful to the Christian Community as it defamed Christian beliefs and the Lord Jesus Christ.

 

 

 

The derogatory comments posted on social media targeting Christian beliefs was pointed out to Mangalore city police commissioner S Murugan March 2,  requesting to register cases against the Facebook account holder. The police commissioner asked them to lodge a complaint at the Police Station. It is said that the comments were serious insults and could ignite hate and violence and were inappropriate.

The delegation was  lead by director of ICYM Fr. Ronald D’souza.  The police promised to book the accused under the appropriate laws.  The delegation comprised of Roy Castelino, Fr J B Crasta, Stanley Alvares, Sheldon Crasta, Jackson Saldanha, Sandeep Monteiro and others.  In the meanwhile it has come to light that the Face Book account has been  withdrawn from the FB site.  Investigations are expected to progress.
