Mangaluru, Dec 22, 2014: Kalagann in Mangaluru witnessed a colourful ceremony to mark the sixth edition of the Global Music Awards presentation on December 21, Sunday under the aegis of Mandd Sobhann, the premier Konkani cultural organisation.
Varsha Usgaokar, Hindi and Marathi actress as well as TV personality who hails from Goa, Lawrence D’Souza, director of Sajan, Esther Noronha and Debora Santa Maria from Pakistan were the star attractions of the event. Walter Nandalike of Daijiworld and Roy Castelino, President of KonkanIiSahitya Academy were also present as guests among others.
The awards were given in six categories and the winners were presented a cash prize of Rs 25000 and citations. The jury included Fr Pratap Naik, Br Jossy OCD,Titus Noronha, Rony Crasta, Fr Jayaprakash D’Souza, Anil Patrao, Eric Ozario, Siddanath Buyanv, Alwyn Fernandes, Cajitan Dias, , Jossy Pinto and Andrew D’Cunha.
The recipients of the Award are : Best Singer, Female--Shilpa Tejaswini Cutinho for Kasulya Kolyar (Album-Asha); Best Singer, Male- Nitin Kutungal for Thu-go thenem (Album-Chanda re); Best Musician- Joel Pereira for Thu-go thenem (Album-Chanda re); Best lyricist- Irine D’Souza for Mogak aslli pakam (Album- Ganv mhojo); Best Music Arranger-Roshan D’Souza for Thu-go thenem (Album-Chanda re); Best Music Album-Roshan D’Souza and Lloyd A Rego (Album-Chanda re)
A new music CD ‘Konkani Unplugged’ by Siddanath Buyanv was released by Varsha Usgaokar at the function.
Esther Noronha presented a musical programme on the occasion with the accompaniment of Nach Sobhann troupe.
