Mangaluru, Sep 25, 2018: In a welcome move, the new Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha has launched a Bandhutva initiative aimed at spreading the message of peace, harmony and brotherhood in the society. In this connection, the Bishop convened a meeting on September 24, Monday wherein leaders from a wide spectrum of the society right from political, social and religious fields as well as intellectuals and media personnel attended and put in their valuable suggestions.
Speaking on the occasion, Bishop Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha said he wished to see Mangaluru as a Smart City with a good heart. Pointing out that the Almighty was the epitome of love compassion and truth as per all religious, he said there was a need for Bandhutva or brotherhood and harmony in the society. The Bishop also stressed the need for the society to work together on common causes.
Sri Jithakamanandaji of Sri Ramakrishna Mission, scholar Prof. Viveka Rai, District in-charge Minister U T Khader, former MLA J R Lobo, Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil, Alva’s Education Foundation Chairman Dr Mohan Alva and others who spoke appreciated the initiative of the Bishop and assured the wholehearted co-operation.
Mayor Bhasker Moily, City Police Commissioner T R Suresh, former minister Ramanatha Rai, all MLAs from the district, former MLAs and MLCs, Basti Vaman Shenoy of Vishwa Konkani Kendra, Trustees of Mangaladevi, Kadri and Kudroli Temples and many others were present.
