Mangaluru July 28, 2016 : The street vendors stage protest against Mangaluru City Corporation MCC as the Parliament has agreed to pass the bill but Central and State have failed to execute it. The protest march was carried out from PVS circle to MCC on July 28, Thursday by the Dakshina Kannada Street Vendor’s Association under the banner of CITU in order to fufil their demands.
Keeping forth their demands of renewal of 208 Identity cards which were still pending, issue of fresh identity cards for the remaining 350 vendors, alternative location to carry out business as committed by authorities. The vendors said that though several welfare programmes have been announced but none have seen the light. They continue to run their business in constant fear of raids from Corporation authorities.
Union leaders Sunilkumar Bajal, Mohammad Mustafa , CPI(M) leader Vasanth Achari and others were present .
