 Mangalore, June 20, 2013 : Nitte University, a pioneer in the field of education in the region, under its Centre for Science Education and Research is offering  new courses in B.Sc (Biomedical Science), M.Sc(Biomedical Science, M.Sc (Molecular Biology and Human Genetics), M.Sc(Oral Biology &Genomic Studies) and Master of Public Health during the academic year 2013-14.

The Nitte University has three sprawling campuses in Mangalore, Nitte in Karkala and in Bangalore, has 28 affiliate educational institutions, nine health science institutes, a medical college with an attached 1200 bed specialty hospital, a college of dental science, two engineering colleges, three management colleges and hotel management college under its umbrella.


Students seeking admission for B.Sc (Biomedical Science) should have attained 17 years of age as on December 31 of the year of admission. He should have passed two years PUC examination of PUC Board Karnataka or an equivalent examination of any other approved board or university with not less than 40 per cent marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as one of the languages of study.

Candidates seeking admission for M.Sc (Biomedical Science, Molecular Biology and Human Genetics) should have passed three years of any life science degree examination of any board/university or an equivalent examination of any other approved board or university with not less than 40 per cent marks in life science subjects.

 Candidates seeking admission for M.Sc (Oral Biology and Genomic Studies, should possess degree of BDS, MBBS or BSc in Biological subjects with a minimum of 50 per cent marks in aggregate.


 For Master of Public Health course, applicants can be any graduate with MBBS/BDS/BSc/Nursing/BPT or any post graduate with M.Sc (Nutrition), Master of Social Work, MA in Sociology or any other equivalent degree from recognized university and should have scored a minimum of 50 per cent marks in the qualifying exams.


The courses will begin in the month of August and students seeking admission can contact the Nitte University Office at Derlakatte. Eligible students are also entitled for scholarships, a press communiqué from the University said.
