Mangaluru, Aug 19, 2015: According to a media release, well known renowned Poet, writer and Novelist Arundhathi Subramaniam, is to deliver James and Shobha Mendonca Endowment Lecture on poetry, entitled ’Give me a Home, that isn’t mine’, at Gallerie Orchid, KS Rao Road, Mangaluru, on August 22 at 5.30 pm.
Poet Arundhathi Subramaniam is famous for her writings on cultural and spiritual aspects. She has four poetry and two essay collections to her credit. Her works are translated into several languages throughout the world. She was nominated for TS Eliot Prize for her work "When God is a Traveller". Her other works -’The Book of the Budha’ and ’More Than a Life’ are now popular.
She has been a recipient of several awards and fellowships such as ’Kushwant Singh Memorial Poetry Award’, ’Charles Wallace Fellowship’ and ’The Visiting Art Fellowship’, to name a few.
The programme is organised by Kavita Trust, which has been working towards the popularisation of poetry, with a particular focus on Konkani Poetry. In the last thirteen years, Kavita Trust has held around 100 programmes related to poetry. James and Shobha Mendonca Endowment Lecture on poetry is an annual programme and this year is its fourth edition.
