Mangalore, Oct 21, 2014: Mangalore Policemen who sacrificed their lives for the nation were remembered on the occasion of the Police Martyrs Day observed by the District Police at the CRP ground on October 21, Tuesday. Police personnel including top officials paid their tributes to the police martys. The police flag was lowered and a two-minute silent prayer was observed on the occasion.
Amrit Paul, IGP, Western Range, R Hithendra, Mangalore Police Commissioner, Dr Sharanappa, SP and MG Uma, District Judge were among those present on the occasion.
City Police Commissioner Hithendra and SP Dr. Sharanappa read out the names of the policemen who laid down their lives while on duty between 2013 and 2014.
The Commissioner informed that as many as 659 policemen have lost their lives while serving the nation during the year and added that their spirit of sacrifice should always be a source of inspiration for the police personnel.
In her address, Uma, District Judge said the society must be grateful to the law keepers who do their duty with sincerity.
