Mangalore Today News Network

Kundapur, July 23, 2014:  Kundapur taluk is observing a bundh today (July 23, Wednesday) demanding justice in the Ratna Kottari case. It may be recalled here that Ratna (17) a student of Shiroor Government PU College, hailing from Alandur Konanamakki in Byndoor who had gone missing while returning home from college, was found dead three days later.

Ratna Kottari.

The bundh is being observed to pressurise the government to undertake a thorough probe into the case and bust the mystery behind her death.

The bundh call is given by the Taluk Raitha Sangha and Hiriya Nagarika Vedike. Most of the shops and business establishments have downed shutters while even buses are off the roads.

Holiday has been declared for schools and colleges in the taluk and students are likely to organise a protest later in the day.

Various likeminded organisations, student associations and political parties have supported the bundh call.
