Mangaluru, Feb 28, 2015 : At the Karavali Utsav Expenditure Review Meet held at the DC office on February 27, Friday under the leadership of DK District in-charge Minister Ramanatha Rai, it was informed that a sum of Rs 1,04,21,824 was spent towards organising the Karavali Utsav.
Additional DC Sadashiva Prabhu who spoke at the meeting, said a total sum of Rs 1,07,70,364 was at disposal for the event including Rs 50 lakh government grant, Rs 35 lakh which was secured after awarding the Karavali Utsav ground for contract, Rs 22 lakh out of donations and Rs 5364 interest.
Of this amount, Rs 2,85,384 was spent by Exhibition Committee, Rs 32,12,563 by Cultural Committee, Rs 8,61,677 by Publicity Committee, Rs 28 lakh by Food and Beach Fest Committee, Rs 9,92,696 by Procession Committee, Rs 17,33,934 by Sports Committee, Rs 2,58,428 for live telecast by Namma Kudla Channel, Rs 2,27,142 towards other expenses and Rs 50,000 towards extending medical aid to Tulu theatre personality KN Tailor. Presently, there is a balance of Rs 3,48,540 in the account, he stated.
DK District in-charge Minister Ramanatha Rai who spoke, asked officials to make the Karavali Utsav to be organised henceforth much more attractive.
