Mangalore Today News Network

New Delhi July 06, 2016 :  Dakshina Kannada District’s very own man and senior BJP leader  D V Sadananda Gowda who had won the previous Lok Sabha elections from Bengaluru North constituency has lost his vital Law Portfolio during the major cabinet reshuffle initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 5, Tuesday.

gowdaSenior leader Ravi Shanker Prasad has replaced Gowda as Law  Minister, while DVS    has been moved to the low-profile Statistics and Programme Implementation Ministry.

If sources are to be believed, Prime Minister Modi was not  satisfied with Gowda’s performance as Law Minister and therefore he was divested of his portfolio. It may be mentioned here that Gowda who had initially held another prominent  Railways Portfolio  was subsequently moved to the Law and Justice Ministry by  allotting the Railways Ministry to Suresh Prabhu after the PM was not convinced with his style of functioning.

Here it is worth mentioning that Sadananda Gowda who  first represented Puttur Assembly constituency in Dakshina Kannada and had later served as MP of Mangalore after winning the 2004 Lok Sabha elections ad then the MP of Udupi in the 2009 elections, was later appointed Chief Minister of Karnataka in dramatic developments that  followed the resignation of then CM Yeddyurappa who was  embroiled in the illegal mining scam and corruption cases.  Incidentally, Sadananda Gowda’s performance  as CM was also lack lustre  and he had  disappointed people of his home district who had high expectations from him. In fact it was during his tenure that the controversial Yettinahole Project was given a go ahead.
