Mangaluru, 1 April 2017:A KSRTC passenger bus caught fire this morning in Shiradi Ghat section near Gundya. The bus was ferrying passengers from Subrahmanya to Bangalore. The bus belongs to Belur Depot of KSRTC, it is learned.
As soon as the fire was detected, the driver brought the bus to a halt and the passengers were evacuated. The fire which began in the front portion of the carriage, rapidly spread through the bus body. Thick smoke filled the atmosphere at the venue. The reason for the fire is not yet clear and KSRTC officers are trying to find out cause.
According to the Office of the Superintendent of Police, DK District the site of the incident falls in the Shakaleshpur police jurisdiction and police officers have reached the spot.
As per preliminary report reaching here, though the bus was gutted in the raging fire, all passengers are believed to be safe and there has been no harm to the public.

Lack of maintenance of the bus . The Government has to discard the old buses as they are risky for long travel . in this incident the passengers were evacuated immediately .but in case of brake failure what would happen ? | |
