Mangalore, April 24, 2014 : District BJP President Pratap Simha Nayak has alleged that the district administration which had not initiated progress works citing the poll code of conduct, has still not evinced interest in redressing the woes of the public even after the relaxation of poll code of conduct.
Speaking to reporters at the District BJP office on April 24, Thursday, he said if 28 gram panchayats faced drinking water problem last year, this year the number of villages which are facing the problem has risen to 42. People are seen lining up for a pot of water at several places. The bore well sunk by the administration is of little help due to depletion of underground water resources, he said.
He urged the district administration to chalk out an action plan and implement the same.
He said the recent natural calamities at Belthangady has resulted in loss of crops worth several lakhs of rupees. Several houses have also been damaged, he said and urged the government to provide compensation at the earliest.
The government which initiates suitable measures immediately in cases like Shringeri shoot-out should evince equal interest in redressing other problems, he said.
