Mangaluru, Dec 28, 2019: The centenary celebrations of St Agnes College of Mangaluru, the first ever women’s college of the west coast, will commence on January 3 with the inaugural of the new block in memory of Mother Mary Aloysia, the founder of the institution.
This was informed to reporters here on December 28, Saturday by Sr. Dr Jeswina A. C., Principal of St Agnes College.
The Mother Mary Aloysia Centenary Memorial Block will be inaugurated by Superior General of Apostolic Carmel Congregation Sister M Susheela A.C. Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese will bless the occasion.
The Centenary celebrations in the evening will be inaugurated by Provincial Superior of Karnataka Province of Apostolic Carmel Congregation Sister M Shamitha A. C. along with Sister Susheela A.C.
Meera Rao, an alumnus of the institution and Director of Rambus Inc, USA and Prof P S Yedapadittaya, Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University, Anirudha Shravan, Commissioner of Collegiate Education will participate as a chief guests.
As part of a centenary celebration a Centenary Run was organised on December 15. Five more major programmes and 100 other activities involving all stakeholders and public have been planned for the centenary year.
Among the activities include a Knowledge Factory that will generate and spread worthwhile ideas by inviting eminent speakers, The Trade Fair aimed at encouraging and empowering women entrepreneurs, Social Responsibility Project, a national level sports meet, and Agnotsav wherein 100 women achievers from different walks of life will be honoured.
