Mangaluru, Aug 29, 2015: Mangaluru: All out efforts must be made to develop Kannada schools if Kannada land and its people have to progress on all fronts, said veteran writer Dr N Sukumara Gowda.
He was delivering the presidential address at the 20th District Kannada Sahitya Sammelan held at Sri Kshetra Kateel Temple premises on August 28, Friday. Continuing, he said the educational field can develop only when there is a change in our view point on education. Education should be considered a process of moulding the personality of the students, he added.
A teacher instead of being a mere instructor, should be a guide and counsellor of his students, Gowda further added.
Prior to the conference , a colour Bhuvaneshwari procession was taken out from the Mahakali Brahmamugera Temple in Gidigere to the Sammelan venue. ZP member Eshwar Kateel flagged off the procession.
Sammelan Chairperson Sukumara Gowda, State Minister Abhayachandra Jain, Sammelan Committee’s Executive Vice President Harinarayanadasa Asranna and District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura waere taken out in a decorated jeep during the procession which featured tableaux, tiger dancers, musicians, Scouts and Guides students, Bharath Seva Dal members and others. Students of Kateel Durga Parameshwari institutions also actively participated in the procession.
Union Law Minister DV Sadananda Gowda who spoke during the conference stressed the need to create a conducive atmosphere for the all round development of Kannada language.
DH Shankermurthy, Legislative Council Chairman, Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Abhayachandra Jain, State Minister, AB Ibrahim, Deputy Commissioner and many others were present.

I agree being in Karnataka importance has to be given to Kannada language.Some kill the language by using English words often and behave as they are do not to speak our language |
