Karkala, Aug 7, 2013 : The sub-inspector of Ajekar police station Sudhaker has been suspended by the Udupi SP Boralingaiah on the charges of inaction in preventing cattle thefts and slaughter.
This development comes close on the heels of the stern warning issued by the Health Minister UT Khader to the police department in the wake of the rising cases of cattle thefts in the district.
The SP has confirmed the suspension of Sudhaker and added there would be an internal enquiry into the case. It is learnt, the Udupi SP had proof regarding Sudhaker being hand-in-gloves with cattle lifters and that his phone records have also revealed that he was in touch with the culprits thus helping them give the cops a slip. It is learnt, Sudhaker also enjoyed a share in the profits of the cattle lifters.
In an earlier case reported some time back, a DAR personnel who was a driver for a police jeep had also been caught red handed for tipping off cattle lifters.
