Speaking after accepting grievances from the public at the RTA meeting held at the DC office on November 26, Thursday, the Deputy Commissioner said that violation of rules was the main reason for the rising road accidents on the National Highway. The absence of speed breakers as well as sign boards too are two other reasons, he said.

Pointing out that speed breakers are not permitted on Highways, the DC said instead Rambler Strip can be provided and added  he has issued instructions to  put up  such Rambler Strips on roads  linking the Highways. Instructions have also been given to fit concave mirrors  so that vehicles coming from either side could be seen. Also sign boards would be put up at necessary spots. The police will keep a strict eye on those resorting to over speeding and negligent driving, the DC informed.

He further stated that he has already received several complaints about lack of cleanliness and necessary amenities at the city bus stand as well as KSRTC bus stand. I have personally visited the places and have instructed the CMC to take action, he informed.

RL Dayas, Convenor of the Railway Yatri Sangha demanded that  KSRTC buses to be pressed into service in Udupi, Kundapur and other places along with private bus services.

Rajendra Prasad, Deputy Commissioner, Arun Kumar Singh, District Regional Transport Officer were present among others.
