Udupi DC asks farmers to permit survey for Nandikur-Padoor power line works

 Manipal, July 25, 2014:  A special meeting was held at the DC office at Manipal on July 24, Thursday to discuss the issue of land acquisition for  drawing a 110 kv power transmission line between Nandikur and Padoor.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Muddu Mohan who presided over the meeting requested the local farmers to permit the authorities to conduct a survey.  However participant villagers, farmers as well as representatives of Jana Jagrithi Samithi pleaded that survey should not be allowed until October when agricultural activities are undertaken.

Participants also demanded that they should be kept well informed about the route map, compensation etc as   80 per cent of the land through the power line would pass is agricultural land.

They also demanded higher compensation as the land above which the lines would pass may not be able to be cultivated.

Kumar, Additional DC, Guruprasad, Tahsildar, Manjunathayya, Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer and others were present.
