A flower company has launched the UK’s first ever bouquet which glows in the dark.

The extraordinary creation looks like a normal bunch of cream roses in the daylight, but produce an eerie green haze when the lights are dimmed.

The amazing effect is produced when the variety of blooms called Avalanche are left out to absorb natural or electric light.

The limited edition bouquet, from Interflora, is being launched in time for Halloween at the end of the month.

Interflora say it will appeal to those who are sick of the usual pumpkin decoration - or those who like a bit of gothic glamour.

The flowers, which cost between £49.99 and £74.99, are currently being prepared for delivery up and down the country.

But the special process used to achieve the glow-in-the-dark effect remains a closely guarded secret.

The bouquet is only available for sale from from October 22 to October 31.

Top secret: The technique for producing the flowers is top secret according to Interflora

Although it
’s the first time a glow-in-the-dark version of the Avalanche bloom has been offered in the UK, the normal variety has been around since 2000.

It’s high petal count and long vase life has seen it soar in popularity over the years and has proved a favourite with both celebrities and royals.

Popstar Lily Allen chose a pink and peach variety of the bloom for her wedding bouquet in June this year.

The Duchess of Cambridge was also gifted with a bouquet of the variety during their Unicef visit to Denmark last year.
