Mangalore, Oct 18, 2014: In view of encourage Konkani literature, All India Konkani Writers Organization (AIKWO) has instituted AIKWO Sahitya Puroskar, in three categories each, for literature in the Kannada and Roman scripts, from this year.

The award winners in stories and novels Stan Ageira, Dubai (Kannada script), Willy Goes (Roman script); Poetry— Andrew L. D’Cunha (Kannada) and Pio Fernandes (Roman); Dramas and others — Arun Raj Rodrigues (Kannada), Fr Eusebio Gomes (Roman); The Kannada script Awards have been sponsored by – Sunil D’Silva, Qatar – Late Jerry Kulshekar Award (Stories and Novels); Fans of Chafra – Late Chafra D’Costa Award (Poetry); Rohan Monteiro, Property – Rohan Monteiro Award (Dramas and Others).

The Awards will be presented at the AIKWO Sahitya Sommellon at Ravindra Bhavan in Goa on October 26. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 20,000, trophy and honour, said a release from AIKWO General Secretary Dr Edward Nazareth
