Cultural wing of MIT wins stage play competition

 Manipal, Feb 12, 2016: Having eclipsed all rivals at ‘Mood Indigo 2015’, organised by IIT-Bombay to win the stage play competition last December, Aaina Dramatics, the cultural wing of the Students Council of Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), has once again stolen the march over the rest of the teams with its production ‘RavanLeela’ bagging the first position at the all-India stage play competition, ‘Curtain Call’ organised by IIM Bangalore during their festival Unmaad ’16 recently.

According to a press release issued by Manipal University here on Thursday, the win also gave MIT the overall winner’s title for the festival. Abhinav Grover received the ‘best director’ title for his self-written script and the team won a cash prize of Rs. 31,000 and non-cash benefits worth Rs. 10,000.

The team was also invited to perform in the acclaimed theatre fests of Bengaluru’s Rang Shankara by the judges for the superb and professional production quality.

The actors were: Pallav Singh, Dhiraj Wadhwani, Khushi Goenka, Khushbu Tiwari, Suryansh Mishra, Atul Raj Pandey, Prateek Uppal, Sehaj S. Gambhir and Sankalp Kumar. Sounds: Uday Pandit (music composer and on chenda), Arpit Uppal (guitar), Karan Vyas (flute), Dhruv (dhol/cabasa), Abhinav Grover (Tibetean gong). Lights: Saheb Sareen and Shiv Pratap Madan. Assistant director: Shiv Pratap Madan. Make-up: Surbhi Malik and Meghana Reddy.
