Duo gets five years RI for Robbery

Mangaluru, May 5, 2015: The Principal District and Sessions Judge Uma M.G. on Monday sentenced Mohammed Rafiq and Mohammed Mustafa to five years rigorous imprisonment after finding them guilty of robbing a woman of her gold chain and running their two-wheeler over her. The judge convicted the two on Saturday. They have also been fined Rs. 10,000 each.

According to the police chargesheet, on March 9, 2013, the duo came on a motorcycle to Neermarga. They snatched the gold chain of 52-year-old Sundari, who was walking by the roadside. She raised an alarm that made local residents block the way of two. Rafiq and Mustafa turned the vehicle and came towards Sundari, who also blocked the way. They pushed her aside and drove over her legs. The residents chased them and handed them over to the Mangaluru Rural Police.
